variety of shapes, sizes and colors. Base cabinets stand on the floor and can even have a bench top added to them for a quick and easy work surface. Wall mount cabinets help to free up the much needed floor space in your garage.

More and more people are turning to their garages to add much needed storage space to their home. Surveys show the following: 82% of people factor in the garage when buying a home, 73% of people enter their home through the garage and 25% of people with two car garages can't get a single car inside. You paid for your garage when you bought your home so why not use it to its full potential. One of the easiest ways to add to the storage and appeal of your garage is with cabinets.

Garage cabinets come in many different styles, sizes and price ranges. Typical garage cabinets can be made from wood, plastic, aluminum and a variety of other materials. Garage cabinets can be freestanding on the floor or hanging on the wall.

Hanging cabinets such as those made by Easy Track (see picture) are very nice because there is no part of the cabinet that touches the ground. This is important for a variety of reasons. One reason is that it keeps valuable floor space free for items to be stored below the cabinet. Other reasons are that it is easier to mount these cabinets on uneven floors and that cabinets will not get ruined in the event of standing water.

These cabinets are so easy to install they can be done in under an hour. To start, mount the track to your existing studs using the pre-drilled holes. Once the track is secure and level hang the pre-notched side panels on the track. Now that the side panels are hanging install additional components such as drawers and shelves. Because the track is mounted level on the wall the rest of the cabinet will be square and level.

The freestanding cabinets are cabinets that have legs and stand right on the floor. Though they do not offer the benefits that the hanging cabinets do they do have their own benefits. The most important of these benefits is that they are not hard mounted to any surface so they can be moved easily from location to location. Some great manufactures of freestanding cabinets include Ulti-MATE and Prepac. Please see the pictures below for examples of these cabinets.
